Pioneer Diary October 31, 1870


Today when I went outside to milk the cow there was frost on the ground. My bare feet tingled in the frozen grass. When I entered the barn, I was greeted with a clatter of noise. The cow was mooing to be milked, the oxen and horses wanted fed, and the chickens were hiding their eggs. I gave them all their breakfasts and milked the cow. I found a few eggs the chickens had laid.
