Almost everyone is scared of bats. Why? Because bats are nocturnal which means they come out at night and people think they get in your hair. That is not true. The last thing they want to do is get in your hair.
Bats are nocturnal but they use a kind of sonar that is called echolocation to keep from bumping into things like caves. Echolocation also helps some bats catch their food. Some bats can catch up to 600 bugs an hour. They can help us in many ways but the most important way is in catching lots of pests that eat the crops. Some kinds of bats live in caves. Sometimes there can be millions of bats in a single cave.
